MBLAQ est un groupe de 5 garçons créé par le chanteur Rain sous le label J.Tune Entertainment. Les membres sont Yang Seung Ho (양승호), le leader, Jung Byung Hee (정병희), Lee Changsun (이창선), Park Sang Hyun (박상현) et Bang Cheol Yong (방철용). Le groupe débute le 9 Octobre 2009 au "Rain's Legend of Rainism concert". Le 17 Octobre 2009 le groupe sort son premier mini-album "Just BLAQ" ainsi qu'un second mini-album "Y" le 18 Mai 2010.

Histoire

Les MBLAQ ont eu un entrainement de deux ans avant d'être annoncé pour la première fois en Septembre 2009 dans le magasine Nylon. Le groupe est apparu aux côtés de Rain lors de son concert où ils ont chanté plusieurs chansons dont Just BLAQ.
Leur premier teaser de leur MV pour "Oh Yeah" sort le 12 Octobre 12. Deux jours plus tard le MV sort ainsi que le premier mini-album "Just BLAQ". Le jour d'après le groupe fait sa première apparition au Mnet Countdown avec "Oh Yeah".

En Décembre, le groupe débute au Japon en faisant des performances durant le fan-meeting de Rain. Résultat, un documentaire a été produit durant leur voyage.
Quelques mois plus tard, MBLAQ fait une promotion de leur deuxième titre "G.o.o.d Luv" avec un MV le 10 Décembre 2009.

Le 19 Mai 2010, le groupe sort son second mini-album "Y" ainsi que le MV.

On a corner from MBC Section TV Entertainment News called ’star star ranking’, the topic of ‘who is the fantasy star family’ was in question.

The siblings Go Eun Ah – Mir, Sandara Park - Chundoong ranked 9th place in the fantasy star family questionnaire. Mir humorously expressed his thoughts about all of this through a brief interview.

Mir expressed, “Being a rookie and all, it’s true that (in terms of his popularity rising) my sister’s help played a huge role in this.”

Later in response to the question ‘who is prettier, Sandara Park or Go Eun Ah’, Mir honestly replied, “Since I’ve originally been a fan of Sandara Park, I like her better than my sister.”

Citation :: MBLAQ, who has up ’til now been carrying the label of “Rain’s group,” has revealed through an interview that they wish to “get rid of [their] label as the idol group that Rain raised.”

Even before their debut, the boys were tagged with this name, and while it was easy for them to become popular because of such a nickname, the group found it difficult to show off their own talents during the promotions for their first album without being compared to Rain himself. The boys elaborated on their feelings: “At first, the burden to do well weighed [because we were trained by Rain] really heavily [upon our backs, and] as the burden got bigger, we felt that we didn’t get to show off all the talent that we have. So we tried to throw away those burdens as much as possible and worked hard to show everyone our development as new idols [instead.] Our hard work must have paid off, because we hear from people around us that we’re doing well and [seem more] relaxed on stage.” They were then able to explain that they “don’t mind being called ‘the idols that Rain raised,’ but […] would [prefer] ‘the MBLAQ that works hard.’”

MBLAQ was able to shed half of their ‘Rain’s idols’ label through winning first place on Mnet’s ‘M! Countdown’ with title track ‘Y,’ but still expressed wishes to improve even more and rid themselves completely of such a title. “All of us were really surprised by the unexpected first place win; [although] thoughts of how hard we prepared for this album came up, […] our CEO Rain’s face came to mind [more often.] After the broadcast, we spoke to Rain hyung, and he told us we did a good job, saying that this was just the beginning and that we should work harder. And he said that because we were now ‘first place singers,’ we should all grab a drink [to celebrate.]” Celebrating the obtaining of such a prestigious title evidently did not come easily to the boys, as they felt that although they “did get first place, […] [they’re] still lacking a lot to be [able to] be called ‘first place singers.’”

The talented idols then remembered that they would be nowhere without their fans, and acknowledged that their fans consisted not only of younger people, but of older noona (including celebrities) fans as well. “Our fans are of diverse ages,” MBLAQ explained. “Online, we have a lot of younger fans, and on music programs, the noonas come to cheer us on quietly. We’re idols, but none of us are underage, so we don’t fear ruining our image [or] being honest, and we think that’s why our noona fans love us so much. We want to show charisma onstage and a friendly, next-door neighbor image offstage.”

The conversation soon drifted to the boys’ appearances on variety shows, during which it was mentioned that they have recently become referred to as “entertainment-dols” while making audiences laugh in the presence of manager Rain. MBLAQ insisted that they were simply naturally funny people, saying, “all five members are fun on a regular basis; in fact, on television, we tend to level it down. We’re all really close and live together in a dorm, so there’s a lot of funny stories between us and it helps us increase our sense for variety. When we’re filming for television, a lot of sunbaes treat us well to get us noticed – [that’s probably] why we’ve been getting more attention lately.”

The boys summed up their thoughts by expressing their hopes to “show a different image than [other] idol groups.” They also aspired to work hard “so that, as musicians, […] our next album [can be created partly by ourselves.]"

Citation :: MBLAQ’s Lee Joon or known as the ‘Little Rain’ has yet another field to demonstrate his skills. As one of the ‘rising variety-idols’, he finally landed his first job as a host in a popular variety program.

The variety program on QTV channel is about determining women’s ranks and it is called SooJungNyuh (short form in Korean). Co-hosting with MC Lee HwiJae, he will work with 10 single female celebrities each week.

On June 30th, Lee Joon started his first recording and expressed his gratitude by saying, “It’s an honor being able to work with 10 beautiful women.” As usual, Lee Joon presented his dancing skill which received positive responses from all the females, including the guest celebrities and the staffs.

Lee Joon has his own corner in the show called ‘Ranks Determined by Joon‘ where he will present a new mission every week for the female celebrities in order to determine their ranks.

This week’s mission was to perform a sexy dance that could appeal to Lee Joon. HyunYoung prepared a provocative chair dance, while Lee JiHyun and Lee JiHye did their best with their sexy dance. In the end, Lee Joon ran off the set to escape from Jung JooRi’s ‘temptation.’

Citation :: MBLAQ's maknae Mir, posted a cyword post that caused many readers to raise their eyebrows in curiosity.

The post read "Next album's quality is jjang,," JJang usually means best(or any positive adjectives) in the korean slang.

Well, this definitely has got to mean that MBLAQ's next album is already in the talks. Don't you guys wonder what fireworks Rain and JTunes will bring us again after chart toppers like Y and Oh Yeah?
